Thank You

Thank you to everyone who stopped by on Saturday to see the display at Oak Hills. It was great meeting everyone. Sorry if I missed talking to anyone personally while I was photographing the events. If you have any questions that did not get answered send me an email or give me a call. You can send an email from my site.

For those of you I did not talk to, through Feb 10th if you order a 16x20 print or larger there is a 10% discount. This includes collages. Please contact me directly if you wish to order a large print or get a custom collage made.

To the person wanting wrestling pictures - there will be a post coming soon from the meet I photographed on January 25th. Hopefully I'll have that post soon. Feel free to check out all the pictures from the event on the Events page on my site.

Hamilton At Oak Hills Boys Basketball

A little behind on my posts. Below are some images from the varsity boys game played on January 19th. I decided to do something a bit different. The first is a collage from a sequence which I've done before but the second is just random images from the game I put together for a collage. I wanted to include the mascot, a cheerleader and a halftime performance.

I couldn't resist taking this photograph. Not sure how the ball got stuck there but pretty impressive. That is up by the ceiling of the gym.

Lakota West at Oak Hills

On January 17th the two girls teams ranked 1 & 3 matched up for a great varsity game. Oak Hills, the #3 team, was down early but came back to win the game by a 12 point margin. There were great battles throughout the game and you could definitely tell these were 2 very good teams. The stands were crowded with both teams having a good number of fans. Below are some of the battles that took place during the game.

A contested shot.
A save out of bounds.
A little foul.
A loose ball scramble.
Drawing a crowd.
Driving into traffic.
Some watching by a very familiar and successful women's coach.

A Little Update

I am a little behind on my posting. Hopefully I can find sometime this week to update you with a few photographs. This weekend has consisted of 6 basketball games, a portrait session and a baby shower hosted by me for my sister-in-law. Been a little crazy and I am a bit sleep deprived but I have loved every minute of it. The snow this morning did not help things out since that meant shoving out the driveway before everyone came over. We had at least 3 inches of snow.

As some of you know, I will be at Oak Hills on January 27th for all the various activities going on that day. I will have samples of some collages as well as prints. Hopefully I will be able to setup a laptop for viewing images. Please stop by and at least say hi. If you want a custom collage that would be the perfect time to talk with me about it and get an idea of what the different sizes look like when printed.

South West High School Classic - Diving

From my previous post you know I was at a swim and dive meet this past Saturday. While the swimming was early, the diving started after 1pm. I'll be the first to admit my diving pictures are not as great as swimming. I could never seem to be able to get to the position I wanted to. I think I needed a ladder that was at least 8 feet tall to help me out. I thought about asking to get on a platform and photographing down at the divers but I was afraid that I would forget where I was at and walk off the edge. I am definitely not a diver so that would not be good for me or my equipment. If there are any divers looking at this I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

A little practice before the event.

South West High School Classic - Swimming

Saturday morning was pretty miserable in Ohio. While warm, it was very dark and rainy. I left my comfortable bed at 6am to get ready to head to Miami University for a day of swimming and diving. I made my way past a few flooded spots and got to the pool about 7:45. A little later than I would have liked but still some time to get a few practice shots before the heats started. What amazing light I had for swimming. I normally do not get that lucky but Miami has a great Aquatics center. After photographing a meet at Oak Hills I was so relieved to have the bright light. There were hundreds of swimmers competing and they did great job getting all the heats organized and things ran pretty smoothly from my point of view. Below are some pictures from the swimming portion of the meet. Thanks to everyone who helped me out when I had a question or were kind enough to move so I could get in the position I wanted. It was definitely nice being inside away from the gloomy environment and with so many friendly yet competitive people.

Oak Hills vs Lakota East Basketball

Friday night found me at Lakota East for a few boys basketball games. Oak Hills was the opponent. The sophomore, junior varsity and varsity were the teams playing. Oak Hills won the first two games but Lakota East managed to pull off the win in the varsity game. While standing by the doors before the start of the varsity I heard somebody say "It smells like sweat in hear" when they walked in. I had to smile at that remark. After all it is a high school gym and 2 games had already been played that night. Below are a few images from all 3 games.

A scramble for the ball
Some hops there
Could not save the ball from going out of bounds
A scramble and a quick timeout
A little separation

Apparently it was a night for scrambles
This coach was great with all his different facial expressions
A hand on the ball
A strong move
An attempt to get around the defense
A backflip

January 11, 2007

Sorry for not posting for awhile. I have been busy wrapping up year end things and preparing for another year. The holidays flew by and before you knew it, it was time to take down the decorations. I am just about done with another bout of sinus problems that left me with a raspy voice for a few days. While I love the 60 degree days during the winter in Ohio, it will be nice to get a cold spell to get rid of some allergy causing things.

I bought a few pieces of furniture for the studio and they are helping me stay a bit more organized. My next few weeks should be fairly busy with some sporting events. Tomorrow night I will be at Lakota East for the boys basketball games. I hope to soon have a schedule on my site of games I plan to be at but that means I need to find the time to update it. Hopefully this weekend I can squeeze in a little computer time. One big thing to mention - I will be at Oak Hills all day on January 27th with samples of collages and hopefully a slideshow. I will also be photographing all the events going on that day. Come meet me and see some of my images in print.

I also switched to the new version of blogger so hopefully everything still works smoothly. A quick test proved to me the old posts still exist and work. See how it goes in the future.

Engagement Session

I do not get to do a lot of engagement sessions since I do not photograph weddings. Most couples will have their engagement pictures taken by the photographer they hire for their weddings. Which I think is great since you want to get to know your photographer before the wedding day. This couple is getting married in Vegas so they needed a local photographer for their engagement pictures. I had a lot of fun with them during the session. Since it was warm out (rarity in December) I took images both in the studio and outside.

I wish you both the best of luck with your wedding.
