Sports Gallery Clean-Up

I am rapidly preparing for the next sports season which involves a lot of clean-up. From clearing up some hard drives to removing online galleries. On Monday, August 4th I will be removing the online proofs of games from the 2007 fall sports season. If you ever needed them reloaded at a later date please do not hesitate to contact me. Everything is archived and kept for 5 years. Questions? Let me know.

The Master Board

I was looking for a better way to keep track of the different sporting events that I wanted to cover this upcoming season. In the past I would just put it in pencil in my calendar or highlight it on the schedule. Which means then I would have to look through all the schedules for the highlights which was definitely not a fast thing to do. Especially if I wanted to respond on the phone to a request or quickly reply via email. I am an honest person if you call in for a request or a team sports session and I have it on my list of games that I want to go to then I will tell you that. So this year I am going to put all the games up on my new white board. It is hanging on my right side so with a quick glance I can see everything. Now I just have to get busy and start going through schedules. That is on my list of things to do in about a week when schedules should definitely be finalized. If you want a game to appear on the board feel free to leave a comment or send me an email - barb@trimphoto.com

My new white board. (and all the stuff on my desk)

PB & J

So I have one particular food that my husband will not even try. I love peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with cheese. I could eat them every day for lunch. Especially when you pair the sandwiches up with nacho cheese Doritos. Mmmmm. Anyone else love this combination? Do you have any combinations that you eat that nobody else will try? And yes I know one other person who eats his sandwiches this way.

Meeting New People

Yesterday morning I joined a new group called the Cincinnati Women Bloggers. Those of you who know me well that I tend to be a bit shy until I get to know you. I am trying to get over that and joining a new group where I know absolutely nobody going in definitely put me out of my comfort zone. What a great group though! They made me feel welcome right away. It was a good meeting and I look forward to getting to know everyone in the group and reading their blogs. Thanks for making me feel welcome from the start.

Family Session

I had the privilege of doing a family session and a few maternity images at the same time. I only wish it had been cooler outside. The mom's dress was fantastic. I love it! What great color and it would have looked amazing against a tree line. But there was no way I was going to try to convince an 8 month pregnant woman to go out in 90 degree heat with high humidity. Their house is so many different wonderful pieces that I had no trouble finding places to take their family images. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

Big sister already loves her new sibling.

I so wanted to take this chair home with me.

Slacking

So I am going to slack off on a post today. Been a long day and I am a bit tired. I promise tomorrow there will be a new post. I will share some images from a family session.

Flowers

Just a few images of flowers for you today. Been busy editing a session and taking care of some business stuff. Hope you enjoyed the beautiful day.

Senior Session

As I mentioned in my previous post I had another Senior Session the other day. The session had both indoor and outdoor images taken. We had to deal with the heat and humidity but I was quick and it was not too bad. I had a lot of fun doing this session and wanted to share some of my favorites.

I wish I had such a great nature smile.

A different kind of composite.

Eye Rolling

Have you ever felt somebody rolling their eyes even though you were not looking at them? I did last night. Got finished with a Senior Session and my husband asked me if I was going to come downstairs and talk to him. Since I had noticed a hummingbird on my flowers I was busy scrambling to take some images. Told him I would be down as soon as I finished taking a few pictures. I swear I could feel him rolling his eyes. Quite possibly shaking his head as well. He knows me so well :) So here is one image I took quickly before going to spend time with him.

Project Complete

Yesterday was project day at the Trimble household. We managed to accomplish a big task. Actually I cannot take much credit, Mike did almost all of the work. I provided moral support, opinions and held pieces in place. Last fall we put up a new outside door because the old one was rotting. But it did not get all trimmed out until this last weekend. We wanted to wait awhile to make sure it was set correctly based on the different temperatures. So while Mike took care of that I worked on cleaning the house and doing small tasks. I thought I would share an image from the scouting I did on Friday night.

Scouting Locations

I spent a couple hours last night scouting new outdoor locations for different sessions. Needed the escape and it was the perfect excuse. I like to challenge myself by trying new places instead of sticking with the known all the time. I love it when a customer suggests a new place. So I have a few ideas for my next few sessions and about 70 images from the night. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and managing to stay cool.

Next House Project

My next house project is to replace 2 faucets. Mike and I divided up different tasks a long time ago and somehow I got stuck with plumbing. Not my favorite thing to do. Hopefully it goes easier than my last plumbing project. Here is an image of the faucets I am putting in. Wish me luck!

Sales Tax Day

Today is the day I fill out my sales tax forms for the state. I have put it off long enough. They are due by July 23rd so I definitely need to get them in the mail. Normally I already have them all submitted but for some reason I have procrastinated this time around. This is one part of owning a business that sometimes can really frustrate me. My goal is to complete the form faster than last time. I am getting better every time around and have a spreadsheet all designed for this which saves me a ton of time. The first time I did this form I think it took almost 2 days because I did not have my spreadsheet set up correctly. Last time it took me 3 hours. The goal this time is less than an hour. Wish me luck.

Stained Glass

I was back at St. Peters last night for some more images for their Pictorial Book. At the end of the night I was taking pictures of their stained glass windows on one side of the church. I did the traditional look and then I did a little underlighting. I have 2 flashes on remotes on the ground to get this image. I like the different look.

Hope everyone manages to stay cool today.

Summer Sports

I have had a few questions recently regarding action shots during the summer. I definitely do cover games during the summer but I only go when requested or a paying session. There are several reasons for this but the main ones are:

1. It is hard to find summer schedules
2. A lot of people take vacation during the summer and I would hate to go to a game where some team members are missing because of vacation.

And yes, I do cover youth sports but I will not go to a game unless invited. I do not want to show up to children's games without knowing at least one person and having permission to be there. I have my reasons for this rule I put in place for myself.

So, if you like me to come out to a game please contact me. I will be more than happy to come out on request or schedule a session for your team or athlete.

And just so you do not think I am sitting around doing nothing, I spend a lot of my time in the summer on portraits, marketing and learning. I will save you all the boring details:)

Something Different

On Sunday I headed to the Church I grew up in. St. Peter's in Hamilton is where I spent 8 years of school and countless years attending Mass. They are putting together a Pictorial Book and asked me to take some images for them. I felt really honored and was glad to be asked. I was there Sunday to get some images of the service and a few other things. The Church is next to the school and as I was walking from the parking lot to the Church I kept thinking how small the school looks now. When I was growing up it seemed so large, almost bigger than life. I guess when we are smaller things look that way. It felt good to be "home" and celebrate Mass in the Church where I grew up. Here are a few images.

A Little Nature

Doing a little light yard work the other day and noticed a nest in our cherry tree. Since the tree is done bearing fruit I left it alone. The bird has laid her eggs and is sitting on them protectively. Every time I come near the tree the birds make a lot of noise but the mother does not fly off. I stay away so not to scare them away from the nest. Here is an image of the mother in the nest. I am looking forward to seeing the baby birds.

Rain

We had some nice storms last night. I could not resist picking up my camera to take some pictures from indoors. Still recovering from the pulled muscle in my back so did not play too much. Had the 300mm lens on which is the heaviest I own. Probably not the smartest thing but I survived. Thought I would share one image from the night.

My back is getting better every day which is making me so happy. I can now sit for long periods of time without a ton of pain. Moving around is not bad at all as long as I move at a slower pace than normal. Even managed to get out and do a little gardening today. Hopefully things continue to improve at a good pace.

Slowly Recovering

The back is slowly improving. Course they told me at least one week but most likely two so I guess it is on schedule. I am not one to lay around for days on end so it has been a little tough to be in bed so much. The first 2 days I was required to be in bed laying on my side using ice on my back. Luckily I can move around now, though it is a slow pace. I can even manage to sit for about 10 minutes at a time. Watched a lot of DVDs and different tv programs. It was the perfect excuse to watch the Wimbledon final yesterday. Any one else watch that amazing match? What great tennis! Also caught pieces of some of the Reds games and the Cup race on Saturday night. About done with tv for a very long time.

I want to thank everyone for the emails and phone calls. It was great getting daily phone calls from people so I could feel like I was part of the outside world. Special thanks to Mike's mom for taking care of me the first day I was laid up. It was incredibly helpful not to have to get up and make myself food or refill the ice bag.

Hopefully all will be back to normal by the end of the week. My 10 minutes in a chair are up so I must go move around some. I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July.

Pulled Back

I have managed to pull my lower back out. According to the doctor it is the lower lumbar. Luckily all x-rays were good - no slipped discs. I have been ordered to rest for the next few days. Which is probably a good thing since I can barely sit and now standing is not so good. Back to bed I head. Though I have to get up every once in awhile to stretch. Posts will probably not happen for a few days as I try to get better.
